Westray Recruitment Group are working with our client who have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager to join their team on site.

You will be working on a prestigious project in the Teesside area.

The project team are looking for well versed and articulate communicators with a professional attitude toward new ways of working within the built environment. Furthermore, the project team are looking for committed talent, who embrace longevity within their role, and look to be part of an innovative project team.

  • The main purpose of the role is to manage the cost of all construction projects - from initial estimates, right through to the final acquisition of materials and bills of quantity, whilst ensuring clients are provided with quality service.
  • Obtain and evaluate information to ensure a realistic cost for the supply of works, goods, materials and services for designated planned and preventative projects/contracts.
  • Whilst liaising with contractors, suppliers and clients to ensure information, costs, profitability and value meet the requirements of designated project/contracts.
  • Liasing with the companies estimators.

You will be responsible for:

  • To act in the full professional capacity as a senior QS & lead projects to ensure they are completed within a set budget.
  • Work autonomously, and within a small team, by leading on cost planning and control of projects, whilst having the ability to make ultimate decisions on the financial management of projects.
  • To undertake all aspects of cost planning and analysis, life cycle costing and budgetary control.
  • Providing cost advice at inception and feasibility stages of projects and when bidding for funding from external sources.
  • To liaise with both internal and external clients dealing with queries and requests for information, as well as providing advice necessary to control costs and to maintain profitability for all projects.
  • Receive working drawings and specifications before leading in the preparation of tender documents including schedules & bills of quantities, to meet client requirements,
  • Ensuring that costs are kept within the approved cost plan and budget.
  • To analyse tenders and prepare reports for acceptance.
  • To ensure that all activities are operated in accordance with legislation and Best Practice.

Job Summary

  • Reporting to the Commercial Manager and working closely with the Operational Team you will be responsible. For the management of all costs relating to building project.
  • You will demonstrate the ability to minimise costs, enhance value for money and achieve the required standards and quality.
  • It will be your responsibility to provide commercial links between Site Agents, Project Managers, Operations, Managers and Directors.
  • Through external liaison with suppliers and customers you will ensure you are kept up to date regarding project.
  • progress and contractual issues.

About you

  • You will be an energetic self-starter, who will contribute to a busy, high performing team.
  • You will have a mininum of 10 years experience in the construction sector (of which 5 years will have been at a senior level).
  • An experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, ideally with a background in the construction of large multi-million pound building projects.
  • Experienced in ‘Change Management’ of contracts.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, or recognized conversion Diploma/Degree or a Construction/Engineering degree.
  • Ideally possess or working towards MRICS.
  • Practical experience in working on large-scale manufacturingfacility projects is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of standard methods of measurement for construction works.
  • Over 10 years experience in an QS career.
