With a key focus on customer service and quality, this business continues to go from strength to strength and are seeking a Health and Safety Manager to take ownership of the site based in South Tyneside.

Your goal as Health and Safety Manager will be to operate in a stand-alone role and to be confident in being the key point of contact for all Health and Safety onsite. Bringing a proactive and personable approach, you will be tasked with promoting a positive Health and Safety culture to all internal and external stakeholders.

Your key duties will include:

  • Providing advice, guidance and support to managers and employees regarding Health & Safety policies and procedures (in line with 18001)

  • Attending Health & Safety meetings with the management team, producing accurate and timely reports to support
  • Identifying the training needs of employees for all equipment
  • Carrying out and recording risk assessments
  • Conducting contractor inductions
  • Continually reviewing and updating policies and procedures, ensuring they keep up to date with legislation

It is critical that you are able to build effective relationships with shop floor staff and gain their respect, but you will equally have the confidence to challenge Managers and Directors in regards to Health & Safety.

It is essential you meet the following criteria to be successful as Health and Safety Manager:

  • You will hold a NEBOSH/IOSH diploma as a minimum (or equivalent)
  • You will have experience of conducting site audits and inspections
  • Your knowledge of HSE legislation will be exceptional
  • You will be able to demonstrate a track record of successful Health & Safety Experience
  • You must also have experience of working within a fast-paced manufacturing or engineering business.

You will receive a salary of around £30,000 (there may be some negotiation depending on your experience)

This is a permanent, full time role, working on day shift from 9.00am until 5.00pm Monday – Friday.

This position is based at the site in South Tyneside, however, there may be a requirement to visit other sites infrequently and so a full UK driving license is required.
