What it takes to be a production worker

Within the Manufacturing and Industrial sector here at WestrayRecruitment, we have a strong track record in managing some of the largest flexible temporary contracts across the region. A key position we regularly recruit for is that of a Production Worker for a number of our clients based in and around the North East. Not everything in a factory can be done by machinery, and a team is therefore required to get things donee and keep the production organised. As a result, the Manufacturing and Industrial route can be a great career for the right individual. These positions often gain a lot of interest from our candidates and bring in a high number of applications. We therefore have compiled the following tips to ensure you stand out in the crowd should you decide a career in production is for you.

Be hard working and willing

Like every role, it is important to always work hard and go the extra mile where necessary. Arrive on time, complete your duties and always work to the best of your ability. A good attitude and approach are key in this line of work, as tasks can often be repetitive.

Be flexible

Due to the nature of the role, and the production industry itself, employees need to be able to react well to last minute shifts, cancellations or changes to meet the needs of the businesses. An ability to adapt as required is key.

Work well both independently and as part of a team

Employers favour those who can get along with their colleagues and work collectively as a team. As is the ability to work with minimum supervision when required.

Work well under pressure

The production industry is both fast paced and target driven, working well under pressure is therefore essential to ensure deadlines are met.

Attention to detail

Again due to the nature of the role, and the products/components you will be dealing with, attention to detail is crucial to ensure no mistakes are made. Don’t be that individual who brings a production line to a halt!
